Syringes in the street

I emailed Yarra's syringe disposal again today to report yet another needle. Something needs to be done.

My family has been finding needles almost daily for months now, often multiples at a time. I walk everywhere with my children and am terrified one of them will get poked by a used syringe. We've passed people shooting up on our neighbor's stoop and once found 7-10 needles strewn on the sidewalk on our block.

My two-year-old knows to say "needles dangerous" when we pass discarded syringes but I hope this lovely community moves to make safety a priority; finding syringes should not be a common occurrence. We support a safe injection site to cut back on discarded needles and direct users to the counselling (and anti-addiction medication) they desperately need.
