The coalface
This is a long overdue campaign and a vital one.
But I believe so much of the issue has in its roots dysfunctional consumer culture, classism, inequality and increases in poverty.
I visit the Richmond precinct when I'm in Melbourne. Which is a few times a year. I see some drug related litter, not heaps, but think it has increased.
My experience is of the issue is right at the coalface. My visits are usually to get the drugs I'm after. I'd rate the street environment as one in which I've never felt unsafe, though I've been told a lot of stuff from others on the street.
Myself and some others I know with this experience have had lot of trauma in our life. For me I'll occasionally use for relief of the pain inside. A friend once needed to block things out in her youth, but has overcome the struggle.
